Advanced Vocabulary Units are designed to help students move beyond basic word memorization and truly master sophisticated language in a fun, engaging way. Each unit introduces carefully chosen high-level vocabulary words through creative activities, challenging exercises, etymology connections, contextual practice, writing prompts, and memorable examples that make the words stick.

Perfect for middle schoolers, advanced readers, homeschool students, enrichment classes, and test prep, these units emphasize deep understanding and real-world usage rather than dry drills. Students encounter unusual, vivid, and academically powerful words while building stronger reading comprehension, sharper writing skills, and greater confidence with language.

*10 SAT/ACT-Level Vocabulary Words (mixture of verbs, nouns, and adjectives)
*Student-Friendly Definitions
*Activity Pages

Each unit starts with an engaging passage that uses the words. Students are asked to figure out the definition contextually, much as they might have to do on a standardized test.

Each word is clearly defined along with its parts of speech and pronunciation. Students then complete a Frayer model activity to find synonyms and antonyms, create a doodle, and use the word in their own sentence examples.

Students will receive plenty of practice using the words in both literal and figurative ways. Activities include matching exercises, a crossword puzzle, fill-in-the-blanks, and much more.

However, the activities extend far beyond having students regurgitate definitions. They need to apply the word creatively, like giving "sagacious" advice to a dog.
