How did this start?
I started as a professional journalist. But once I had my own kids, I migrated into freelance writing, and from there, I hopped into teaching for homeschool co-ops. I quickly found that most students either could not write or were terrified by the writing process. The only people more terrified? Their parents!
In 2019, I put my writing know-how to use on Outschool, the international online education platform. More than 4,000 students later, I've refined my approach to teaching paragraphs, essays, vocabulary, creative writing, and tons of other writing-based components into a system that breaks down every aspect of writing -- from brainstorming to polishing -- into easy-to-achieve steps.
Now, I've founded Building Better Writers Academy to help all students learn to write.
